NordProtect’s security alerts and notifications inform you about detected cyber threats, such as data leaks and suspicious credit activity. Each alert provides some information about the incident and the best steps to take to protect yourself. In addition to alerts and warnings, you’ll receive notifications about important product updates.

You also receive warning alerts related to suspicious credit activity that may indicate identity theft. You’ll be warned about changes like a new account in your name, a new unauthorized user on your credit card, or a bank card being used beyond its credit limit.

First, you need to set up dark web monitoring and credit monitoring by adding your details and completing the verification steps. Once that’s done, our alerts will notify you if we detect any risks, so you can quickly take action to protect yourself.

If your data is leaked on the dark web or someone opens an account in your name, every hour is crucial. Cybercriminals act fast, so the sooner you find out about these security threats, the better. By receiving timely alerts and warnings, you can take immediate action to protect your accounts and identity.

How do you use the NordProtect alerts and notifications feature?

To get started with NordProtect alerts, you need to set up dark web monitoring and credit monitoring. For dark web monitoring, you can add information like your email address and phone number for us to track. For credit monitoring, you’ll need to add the relevant credit information and complete identity verification. Once that’s done, you’ll start receiving security alerts and warnings to keep you informed about any threats we detect.

NordProtect will also send you product updates, news, and offers. You can easily change what notifications you receive by adjusting your notification settings.

Where can I find NordProtect security alerts and notifications?

You can find your alerts and notifications on the NordProtect web app under the “Alerts and notifications” tab. You will also receive certain alerts and warnings about suspicious activity by email so you don’t miss important information. You can change your notification settings to control what types of emails you receive.

Can I decide what security alerts I receive?

Yes, you can — by choosing what information you want us to monitor. NordProtect sends you alerts and warnings for data leaks and breaches related to the personal information you’ve chosen to track.

You have full control over what information you add, and we’ll only send alerts for that data. For example, if you want to monitor data leaks linked to your Social Security number, that’s the information you should add. In this case, we won’t notify you about data leaks associated with other information (like your email address or phone number).

What should I do if I get a security alert?

If you receive a security alert, you should take action right away. Most security alerts and warnings will provide some information about the threat, including the steps you should take to protect yourself. These steps may include changing your account passwords, turning on multi-factor authentication, or contacting your bank to find out more about potentially suspicious credit activity we’ve detected.

The credit scores provided are based on the VantageScore 3.0® credit score by TransUnion® model. Lenders use a variety of credit scores and may utilize a different scoring model from VantageScore 3.0® credit score to assess your creditworthiness.

You have numerous rights under the FCRA, including the right to dispute inaccurate information in your credit report(s). Consumer reporting agencies are required to investigate and respond to your dispute but are not obligated to change or remove accurate information that is reported in compliance with applicable law. While this plan can provide you assistance in filing a dispute, the FCRA allows you to file a dispute for free with a consumer reporting agency without the assistance of a third party.

No single product can fully prevent identity theft or monitor every single transaction.

Some features may require authentication and a valid Social Security Number to activate. To access credit reports, scores, and/or credit monitoring services (“Credit Monitoring Services”), you must successfully pass your identity authentication with TransUnion®, and your VantageScore 3.0® credit score file must contain sufficient credit history information. If either of these requirements is not met, you will not be able to access our Credit Monitoring Services. It may take a few days for credit monitoring to start after a successful enrollment.

NordProtect’s dark web monitoring service scans various sources where users’ compromised personal information is suspected of being published or leaked, with new sources added frequently. However, there is no guarantee that NordProtect will locate and monitor every possible site or directory where consumers' compromised personal information is leaked or published. Accordingly, we may not be able to notify you of all your personal information that may have been compromised.

Identity protection benefits are currently available to all customers residing in the United States, including U.S. territories and the District of Columbia, with the exception of residents of New York and Washington. NordProtect is not a licensed insurance producer. Benefits under the Group Policy are issued and covered by HSB Specialty Insurance Company. Our identity theft restoration service is part of a comprehensive identity theft recovery package that offers a reimbursement of up to $1 million for identity recovery expenses. To access the support of an identity restoration case manager, you must file a claim with HSB, which NordProtect has partnered with to provide the coverage. HSB is a global specialty insurance company and one of the largest cyber insurance writers in the U.S.
