I want you to know that scams today don’t look like scams. They look like normal emails, phone calls, texts, and even familiar faces online just like me. Most scams succeed in moments of trust, urgency, or confusion — and a single mistake can be enough.

Impersonation scams
Calls or emails posing as the IRS, Social Security, banks, security and finance experts, tech support, or even family members.

Romance scams
Emotional relationships built online, via dating sites or apps, that end in requests for money or gifts.

Phishing texts and emails
Messages designed to steal your passwords, personal info, or payment details – often disguised as exclusive invites or can’t-miss investment opportunities.

Fake app scams
Malicious apps disguised as legitimate software to steal data or infect devices.

Fake stores & online ads
Convincing websites offering deals that never deliver.

Account takeovers
The act of stealing your credentials to take control of your email or financial accounts.

Scams that specifically target older adults and their finances.

FAQ
Identity theft protection is an important part of staying safe online, but on its own, it is not enough.
Today’s threats go beyond identity theft and often include online scams, fraud, and cyber extortion. The Ultimate Scam Protection plan is designed to provide broader protection by combining identity theft recovery with coverage for online fraud and cyber threats, along with tools and support to help detect and respond to risks early.
This more comprehensive approach helps protect not just your identity, but also your finances and overall digital safety.
Having this information ready can help you complete activation more quickly and avoid interruptions during the process:
- Your Social Security Number and basic personal details for identity verification
- Access to your email inbox for verification codes
- A smartphone for multi-factor authentication
- An authentication app (such as Google Authenticator), which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- Your VPN should be turned off during identity verification, as it may interfere with the process in some cases

The Ultimate Scam Protection plan is not available to residents of New York due to state-specific regulatory requirements. However, it is available in all other U.S. states. We’re actively working to expand availability and hope to offer the plan in New York in the future.
Each coverage area in the Ultimate Scam Protection plan has its own separate annual limit. Identity theft recovery is covered up to $1,000,000 per year, while online fraud coverage and cyber extortion protection each provide up to $100,000 per year.
You can file multiple claims within each category, as long as the total approved losses in that category do not exceed its annual limit. Each category works independently, so using coverage in one does not affect the limits in the others.
All limits reset when the plan renews each year.
The Ultimate Scam Protection plan was created in collaboration with Suze Orman and is specifically designed to help protect against the types of scams most commonly affecting older adults, such as impersonation scams, phishing, and online fraud.
Suze Orman has personally helped to shape this plan to ensure it focuses on clear, scam-focused protection and financial security.
Compared to other NordProtect plans, the Ultimate Scam Protection plan is designed with higher, dedicated insurance limits for scam-related categories, including up to $1,000,000 in identity theft recovery, and up to $100,000 in eligible losses for online fraud and cyber extortion coverage.
It is a focused, scam-first protection plan built for users who want straightforward coverage and support against financial fraud and online threats.
No, the coverage limits are not shared across categories.
Each coverage area under the Ultimate Scam Protection plan has its own separate limit. Identity theft recovery includes up to $1,000,000 in eligible losses per year, while online fraud coverage and cyber extortion protection each include up to $100,000 in eligible losses per category, per year.
If you experience a loss under one category, it will only affect that specific coverage limit and will not reduce the limits available in the other categories. Each category operates independently within the overall annual plan structure, and all limits reset upon yearly renewal.
Submitting a claim in the NordProtect web app typically takes just a few minutes, depending on how quickly you can provide the required details and supporting information. The more complete your information is at the time of submission, the smoother the process will be.
Once a claim is submitted, the review and reimbursement process varies depending on the complexity of the case. On average, it can take up to 30 days to receive a decision and, if approved, your reimbursement.
Please note that claims should be reported as soon as reasonably possible, and no later than 60 days after discovering the incident.
Yes, we recommend temporarily turning off your VPN when completing identity verification.
Some verification steps are handled by our identity verification partner, and in certain cases, VPN connections can interfere with the process or cause the verification to fail. This does not happen in every case, but it can occur often enough that we advise disabling VPN while verifying your identity.
Once the verification is complete, you can turn your VPN back on as usual.
